J.A.M. Sessions Cancelled Tonight (6/27) Due to Heat, Farmers Market Still Happening 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The City of Santa Clarita’s weekly Farmers Market will take place as planned today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., however organizers have notified the City that the final J.A.M. Sessions event planned for Main Street tonight in Old Town Newhall has been cancelled due to the heat.

Thursdays@Newhall brings back a summer favorite, J.A.M. Sessions, to the Farmers Market beginning Thursday, June 6, at 6:30 pm.  This free series features musical movements by various performing arts groups in partnership with the Ford Theatre Foundation, the James Irvine Foundation, and the City of Santa Clarita.

June 6 - African Dance with CalArts African Dance Ensemble

June 13 – Square Dance with Susan Michaels and Sausage Grinder

June 20 – Drum Circle with Christopher Ramirez

June 27 – Salsa with Contra-Tiempo

The Farmers Market in Old Town Newhall is held every Thursday night, from March to October, on Main Street, from 4p.m. to 8p.m.  The Farmers’ Market brings the community together to shop for fresh produce, browse local shops, listen to live music, and interact with local entertainers.

The Farmer’s Market in Old Town Newhall offers a variety of healthy organic produce including fruits, vegetables, and crops, as well as packaged foods, cooked foods, handmade craft items, family-friendly activities, and entertainment for the Santa Clarita community.

The 2013 Farmers’ Market season brings back the operator, Coastal Pacific one of the largest Farmers’ Market organizers in Southern California.  Coastal Pacific produces many Certified Farmers’ Markets in Los Angeles, Riverside, and Ventura counties, including the Northridge Market, which is one of the largest in the country. The State of California Agricultural Commissioner certifies that the farmers at the markets run by Coastal Pacific sell food produced directly by the farmers themselves.
